The Santa Barbara Zoo is exhibiting a fascinating body of work based entirely on the x-rays taken of many of their animal residents. Through funds donated, the zoo was able to purchase a Vet Rocket X1 portable digital radiograph system back in 2013. The purchase of this portable x-ray device aids in the care of each animal through medical diagnosis. The great surprise in this process was the discovery of how beautiful the x-rays look! It’s so unusual to see a snake, flamingo, armadillo, alligator and many other animals in this way. Now through June 28 you can see 28 of these animal x-rays are on display in an exhibition called “Animals… Inside Out” at the Santa Barbara Zoo. It’s free to view with zoo admission.
Everyone here at Color Services was so excited to see the work first hand since we were fortunate enough to have printed and mounted this entire display. Each image was printed on our Chromira Printer using Fuji Crystal Archive glossy paper. We then flush mounted each photographic print on 3/16″ black gatorfoam.
