When Santa Barbara portrait photographer, Stephanie Baker, took over the Color Services Instagram feed recently, she definitely shared what she loves best: the faces of Santa Barbara. Stephanie has been photographing the children and families of Santa Barbara in her distinctive style for the past 25 years. Last fall, she celebrated this milestone by compiling a retrospective of her work—and it is many of those images that she has now posted on her Instagram takeover.

Stephanie always strives to capture the essence of her subjects in her portraiture and this surely shows in her stunning work. She favors black and white…and usually crops tight to the face. Her portraits are taken exclusively in natural settings with beautiful Santa Barbara serving as her studio. I especially enjoyed viewing Stephanie’s “Now & Then” diptychs that compare photos of young children with a recent shot. It’s very fun to see the same sweet face as a child and as a young adult.

Stephanie has also shared an incredible collage of Santa Barbara faces on her Instagram takeover.
