If you like adventure, I’m sure it would be great fun to hit the road with Rikki Ward and if you’ve never been to Slab City, you’ll have to check out the photos she shared on our Photograph Your Love® Instagram Takeover! Rikki is a relatively new customer of Color Services who recently took over our Instagram feed for a week. Many of the photos she shared were shot during a 10-day trip to Slab City in Southern California early this year. Slab City is a community of people living rent and utility-free on an old military site about 2 hours South of Palm Springs. It takes its name from the concrete slabs that remain from the abandoned World War II Marine barracks of Camp Dunlap. The site is uncontrolled, and there is no charge for parking. With no electricity, no running water, no sewers, and no trash pickup service, it’s interesting to see the resourcefulness and creativity of the residents that Rikki captured. On Father’s Day, I loved that she posted a fun photo of her dad.

When she’s not pursuing unique locations for personal photography on her days off, Rikki Ward works as an extremely talented wedding, maternity and portrait photographer in San Francisco. She has a background in photojournalism and she shoots weddings with all of the elements of a good photo story. She knows how to capture the action, beauty and love. Be sure to visit her professional website at www.rikkiwardphotography.com and see her very beautiful work. Rikki, thanks so much for sharing what you love with us!
