For Week #105 of the Photograph Your Love® Instagram Takeover, we were happy to introduce you to Kim Reierson. Kim is a California native who was raised in Bolivia. Her interest in photography began as a teen when her father gave her a film camera for her 15th birthday. Her camera then became a vehicle to explore the world—inside and outside of her family’s suburban middle class life. She used their empty swimming pool for a makeshift studio and the garage as her darkroom as that gift from her father launched a lifelong passion.
Kim graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in Fine Arts. She spent several years working as a photojournalist and ten years in New York City working as a commercial photographer in the fashion industry before returning to her home town of Santa Barbara. Her work has been widely published and exhibited both in the United States and abroad.
For her takeover week, Kim shared powerful images unlike anything we’ve yet seen on our feed. She showed us a unique backstage view of bodybuilding competitions, male and female, and the world of burlesque dancers. The photos were personal, showing her subjects at very vulnerable times. We thank Kim wholeheartedly for such an enlightening takeover week! You can find out a bit more about Kim Reierson via this feature the Breakfast website.
The Photograph Your Love® Instagram Takeover has given me incredible exposure to worlds beyond my quiet life and that’s what I love about it. I’ve been able to expand my horizons exponentially through the experiences of the many talented photographers who have given their time to share. We never dreamed the takeover, now in its 3rd year, would grow to such magnitude. Each week a different customer of Color Services takes over our company’s IG feed and inspires the world with fresh imagery. I hope you’ll follow along with us @colorservices! You’re guaranteed to love it too!
