The Goleta Valley Historical Society invites the public to submit favorite photos of the Goleta Valley for a chance to be featured in its next exhibition.
The exhibit, titled “Capturing The Goodland: Picturing the Beauty & History of the Goleta Valley,” opens March 17 with youth (under 18) photographers on display until mid-June followed by adult works on display until Nov. 17.
The goal of this community exhibit at Rancho La Patera & Stow House is to inspire museum visitors to explore Goleta’s hidden treasures. Participants are encouraged to submit images of their favorite places—historical, natural and unusual!
Photographers interested in submitting work for consideration should send image(s) to photos@goletahistory.org. Submit: photo, title, location and an artist statement describing what you love about the photo or a more general statement about life in Goleta. A print version will be requested for the selected submissions. Photos may be black and white or color. The submission deadline for adult entries is May 15, 2013.
Stow House, established in 1873, is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The beautiful house, along with its gardens, ranch area, and other historic structures of Rancho La Patera, are treasures in the Goleta Valley that will transport you to another time.
Visit Rancho La Patera from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Entrance to the museum is $8 for adults and free for children under 12. Rancho La Patera is located at 304 N. Los Carneros Road. Questions about the photography exhibit may be directed to Education Coordinator, Jim McNay at photos@goletahistory.org or at 805-681-7216. For more information, visit http://www.stowhouse.com.
