A painting of two elephants, one front view and one sideways, by John Baran.

If you haven’t been to the Santa Barbara Zoo recently, now is the perfect time to visit. The summertime crowds have thinned…and there’s one more week to see the wonderful animal art of our customer, John Baran. We print John’s artwork on fine art paper and on wood.

The show, “Animal Ambassadors”, is playful and colorful. You will see many of our local zoo friends including “Buttercup” the giraffe, “Chadwick” the lion, “Kivu” and “Goma” the gorillas and more. The art is for sale and half of the proceeds will benefit the zoo. John’s style is unique and endearing. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have one of his pieces in your home and help the zoo raise money, too? Prices begin at just $35 for small pieces and go up to $4,000 for the largest prints. “Animal Ambassadors”  is on view in the Volentine Gallery, located in the Discovery Pavilion. It is free with zoo admission.

John Baran started creating animal art in 2013 when he made 4 animal-themed prints for his daughter. After sharing the prints on his John Baran Art Facebook page, he received so many inquiries from his followers that he knew he had struck a chord. He now has an extensive collection that you can view at www.johnbarananimalart.com. John has donated to Fight for Rhinos and Art 4 Apes. His animal prints are sold in stores and galleries nationwide.

The Santa Barbara Zoo is full of fantastic photo opportunities! It is truly one of the world’s most beautiful zoos. It is located on 30 acres of botanic gardens and is home to nearly 500 animals in natural, open habitats. Grab your camera and enjoy a day at the zoo!
