I grew up near the Amish Country in Pennsylvania, so I was especially interested in Bruce Burkhardt’s week on the Photograph Your Love® Instagram Takeover. Bruce’s entire takeover shares images from an Amish community in Ohio. I remember sitting in the back seat of our family car on trips to my grandmother’s house, driving through the rolling hills and sometimes ending up behind a slow-moving Amish buggy. We would crawl along at a snail’s pace until the road was clear enough for us to pass. In the distance, we could see farms that belonged to the Amish people. So it was with great nostalgia that I enjoyed Bruce Burkhardt’s week of Amish images and closer looks at their lives through his lens. His images were so beautiful that more than once I wanted to be there. Some of Bruce’s images were black and white, some color, and all were stunning—-stark and simple—just like the Amish themselves. Thank you, Bruce!
