We were so excited when the Yarn Bomber, Stephen Duneier, took over our Instagram feed for a recent week. Stephen is a Santa Barbara fiber artist who periodically transforms select areas of our local outdoors into temporary fantasylands with his colorful yarn installations. Since 2012, he’s done at least one project each year. Maybe you saw his huge crocheted granny square when it was spread out on Mission lawn which, by the way, used 25 miles of yarn and set a world record! Maybe you’ve happened upon his work in the hills above town. Or maybe you’ve read about his escapades in the local news or Newsweek. Stephen Duneier’s artwork is represented by one of the most prestigious American art galleries, Sullivan Goss, and has been featured in everything from local television to international publications. Regardless of whether you’ve seen his work or not, you’ve got to check out his IG takeover! Once you see the amazing things he’s done, you’ll want to see more! The purpose of Stephen’s stitchery is to draw people back to nature, to encourage an appreciation of the great outdoors, and to build a global community of kind and creative people. What an awesome mission! Stay tuned to his website at www.yarnbomber.com. He always posts news of his upcoming projects there. It’s also interesing to read all about how he got started on yarnbombing in the first place. Follow Stephen’s own Instagram @yarnbombs for an endless explosion of colorful fiber art!
If you’re new to the Color Services Photograph Your Love® Instagram takeover, each week we feature a different customer that we feel will inspire your photographic creativity. We feel that’s part of our purpose as a business that processes and prints photographs. This week, we share Stephen Duneier’s desire to get you back to nature…with your camera, of course! Be sure to take extra batteries and/or lots of film…and remember to photograph your love! Maybe Stephen’s takeover will even inspire you to pick up a crochet hook or a pair of knitting needles! Stitchery contributions for his projects are always welcome!
Follow us @colorservices for an ongoing feed of incredible photography.
